It comes a surprise that Microsoft is starting to make its presence felt in environments it used to avoid. The general availability of Microsoft Office for Android was announced as early as June of 2015.

As you can see, the newer ones have unusual restrictions, but all requires a Microsoft Account. Reviews are rather mixed too, with some users not being able to use the app at all, while others have found it useful.
The latter 3 apps will not work on anything earlier than Kitkat. Those with Jellybean and Ice Cream Sandwich phones are stuck with Office Mobile, which may be a blessing in disguise.
For those that have been able to use it, there are majority of users who agree it is a better experience in comparison to other alternatives previously offered in Android.
